Family Home Evening

Here are some pictures from our last FHE. We talked about following in Jesus's footsteps and did a craft of tracing our feet and coloring them in.

Juliet's birthday!

Last Sunday, December 9, was Juliet's 2nd birthday. We decided that since she can get shy around groups right now and a little uncomfortable around people she doesn't know very well, we would keep her party nice and small. We had two sets of Grandparents over for brunch and cake, and Juliet was the center of attention and was showered with presents. She enjoyed opening her gifts, but became a little bit overwhelmed after opening gift after gift. Some of her favorites were a big dollhouse that My Dad and Paula bought her when we down in Georgia and sent back as a gift, a princess chair from her Grandpa Al and Grandma Becky, a big, impossibly soft bear from Grandpa Jim, a beautiful dress from great Grandma Marian, and a new Signing Times video from Grandma Kathryn. Knowing that she would get so many gifts from Grandparents, Charles and I did not really get her too much. We got her 3 beautiful books which were not that exciting at the time, and Charles got her a toddler activity book which he plans to use throughout the year for some Daddy/daughter time. It was a lot of fun to see Juliet's excitement.

Here is the beautiful birthday princess.

Yum....when is the cake coming out?
Juiliet works on getting that cake opened.

Here is Juliet's present pile, it was on the table when she woke up and while she wasn't allowed to open them till the party started, she was content to hold them and carry them around.

Here is the kid's table, we had it set up in the middle of the living room, so they were literally in the middle of all of us.
Here is the breakfast spread.
Here's a nice posed picture of Grandpa Al and Grandma Becky.

Here is candid picture of Grandma Kathryn and Grandpa Jim. My Mom's not going to be happy that I put that up!

I ran out of battery in camera about half-way through, so I'll post some pictures from my Mom's camera when I get them.

Happy Birthday Juliet, you are a pleasure to have around!

First snow of the season

We had a big snow this morning, probably five inches. It was really tough driving Cole to school in it, but it is beautiful and Juliet was really enjoying it. Here she is on our back porch taking a few minutes to explore the snow. It is very new for her and she was probably not old enough to remember it last year. Her enthusiasm was quenched after a few minutes though and she started crying and saying, "It's too cold." I whisked her inside and we cuddled her warm again.

Christmas Decorations

It is so fun to have the house decorated for Christmas, so warm and cozy! Here are a few pictures of our decorations up. Charles is really in to Christmas decorating , and is very patient with working with it until it is JUST right. He did a lot of the decorating this year. It is just so cozy to sit tucked away in the cozy little decorating house.

And now Thanksgiving.....

Here are the pictures of our visit to Atlanta. We really had a lot of fun with my Dad and Paula and my siblings John, Jocelyn, and Maddie. The kids really enjoyed getting to know these wonderful family members that they don't get to see very often, and being the center of attention.
Here are the Malmfeldt siblings (minus Michael)

Juliet having fun with Aunt Jocelyn.

Juliet finds a willing volunteer to read to her in Grandpa.

Juliet really took to Maddie and followed her around asking, "Where Maddie go?"

Awww.....here are the boys hanging out. For some reason I kept calling Cole, John while I was there. I guess I was remembering another cute little blond boy.

Before moving on to other holidays....

I realized that while I had many Halloween related posts in October, I never posted about our actual night of Trick-or-treating. I wanted to make sure to post these pictures especially since there is a very nice one of the kids with Grandpa Al and Grandma Becky. We went to their neighborhood in Bexley for Beggars Night. The kids had a lot of fun visiting houses and experiencing the joyful realization of the joy of people giving them candy. Cole continued to want to go in people's houses and also misunderstood when someone held a bowl of candy out to him once and put his trash in it (I thought it was trashcan). Grandma Becky had pizza and homemade vegetable soup at her house, and we had a great time. It is December now and the kids still suggest that it might be fun to Trick-or-treat again.
