Sassy Juliet

Most of the time Juliet is a very sweet girl. She is very helpful to others and affectionate. Occasionally, she has her sassy moments. They are so hilarious that I thought I should jot some stories down so I won't forget them.

A couple of weeks ago Juliet brought me some random piece of a toy, which I honestly didn't recognize. "What is it Mommy?" she asked. "I don't know Juliet." "What is it?" she patiently tried again. "I really don't know honey." "What's this?""I'm sorry honey, I don't know." At this point Juliet got a very frustrated look on her face and said in a very exasperated voice, "COME ON MOMMY...what the toy named!?!"

The other day I was trying to get Juliet to come do something that she didn't want to do right then. After a bit of a struggle, she turned to me and said, "Mommy, you making me CRAZY!" I started cracking up. Hmmm....I wonder where she heard that one.

I was in a waiting room with Juliet and Cole about a month ago. Several other children were in the waiting room and were playing with a few toys they had in a corner. Juliet saw something that she wanted to play with, but a little child about her age was already using it. So she walked up to the child currently occupying the toy, gently laid her hand on his arm, looked into his eyes and said, "You need to go back to your Mommy."

Okay, one more tidbit that I just remembered. Here is a discipline tactic of mine gone wrong. Juliet has started coming up to me, taking both my cheeks in her hands and saying, "Look me in the eyes. You don't like to do that anymore." Okay, my little Mommy, I'll look you in the eyes anytime.

How to enjoy a cupcake

Now, that is how you eat a cupcake! This isn't actually at anyone's birthday. It is in the parking lot of the church after the Relief Society birthday party Enrichment meeting. The kids nabbed some cupcakes and hats.

Blowing bubbles

I love the way Juliet's lips and cheeks move when she blows bubbles. So cute! I know this is kind of dark, we are in the basement.

My beautiful kids

I love these pictures that my Mom took of the kids. She always seems to get great shots!

A final tribute to the March snow of 2008

Here are some pictures of us all playing outside in the snow that we had last Saturday. Between the sunshine and the rain that we've had this week the snow has mostly melted. Now all that is left are those unattractive and muddy mounds of snow where it was piled up the highest. If you will look at the pictures of my kids you will notice that they have an obsession with eating snow. It is impossible to stop them. I just take a deep breath and try not to think of all the things that might be contaminating it. The snow really was beautiful and the kids had a lot of fun playing in it. Family Home Evening

We made snowflakes for Family Home Evening tonight in honor of the snow that is still on the ground outside. I figured I needed to have a better attitude about it. Anyway, the picture of Cole show first his realization that I have brought out the treats and then him mauling me for them. Nothing like a treat after FHE to make it a positive experience for everyone.

Go away winter!

Well, this isn't news for anyone in Ohio, but for you folks in lovely places like Texas, Georgia, and California (I hate you all!) we have just had an enormous amount of snow dumped on us here. It has snowed non-stop for more than 24 hours and we are looking at at least 14 inches of snow. Man! We've been snuggled up inside all day watching it go and feeling glad that we stocked up on groceries. It has been very beautiful and I've enjoyed it on some level, but I'm more than ready for Spring to come our way. My brain is just not on the "winter wonderland" setting. In these pictures of Charles digging us out of the snow you can see a white mountain behind his shoulder. That is my car.
