Glacier Ridge Park..

Here are the kids at Glacier Ridge park. These pictures were all taken at the wetlands observatory which was very pretty and very windy. The kids, especially Cole, really wanted to jump right into the water and frolic with the wetlands creatures. I was in heaven because of the wind, I just love wind. It makes me feel as though I might take off at any moment and fly away.

I just wanted to pass on a recommendation for a book that I am reading. The icon above is kind of small but the name is Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them by Jennifer Fox. This is a great book about really building your child up by helping them find what they are good at and then building those skills up to help them to succeed and be happy in their lives. I haven't finished it, but am really enjoying this book. The author celebrates the uniqueness of all individuals and has a vision about what the world would be like if each child is able to harness his/her special abilities and use them to be successful and confident. She is an educator and talks a lot about how the current school system focuses too much on remediating weaknesses instead of building individual strengths. It is frustrating to see a lot of the weaknesses of the current education system, but she focuses on how parents and teachers can help kids despite the current ways of doing things. Anyway, a great book with a lot of fresh ideas for parents.

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day we got to have Charles's Mom visit with us. We rarely get to see her and so it was nice to have her with us. I was running around and neglected to take any pictures, which is really a shame because I really wanted to get some shots with her and the kids. They call her "Granny" and Juliet has been asking where she's gone. Juliet was really funning while she was here, completely hamming it up to make her laugh. Later during the week I had arranged to take my mom out for a Mother's Day lunch. We went to an Indian buffet (yum) and again I neglected to bring my camera. Luckily, my mom's friend Loretta, who also came with us, had a camera and she took a lot of really neat shots of Juliet. Again no pictures of my Mom. I haven't been real on the ball with taking pictures lately.

Jessica's New Doo...

Okay, well I've been meaning to cut my hair shorter for awhile now. I've had it long, long enough. So, today I took the plunge and I really like it. This will be a lot easier for me to deal with. I'm also more motivated to actually do it, since it will long styled when I'm done. With the long hair I would take the time to blow dry it and it didn't look that great.

All by myself...

While we are very proud of Cole for deciding that he needed to change out of his pajamas and put clothes on for the day (something he has never taken the initiative to do before), we are a little bit concerned about his clothing choice. To quiet my fear that he has had a secret urge to cross-dress for awhile now, I did investigate , and this was the only piece of clothing on the bedroom floor. Or maybe he just likes skirts, time will tell.

Juliet's haircut

Well, you've probably noticed in other pictures, Juliet got a cute little sassy girl haircut. I'm really loving it. Here are a few pictures from the day that she got it cut.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy...
